Bio/CV: 

Mosi Weng is a Ph.D. Candidate at Zhejiang University (Hangzhou, China). He is currently a visiting student researcher at the Center for Studies in Higher Education, UC Berkeley. His research interests focus on academic entrepreneurship, higher education management, and innovative ecosystem studies. He has followed these topics for 6 years and has a concentrated record of research and publications. His previous work on entrepreneurial universities, which mainly examined the entrepreneurial transformation of local universities in China, won him a National Scholarship and Annual Top 10 Students’ Academic Achievement Award for Zhejiang University. During his visit to CSHE, Mr. Weng is primarily conducting a comparative study on “Academic Entrepreneurship Mechanism of Flagship University- Perspective of Basic Academic Organization,” to analyze the influencing factors (especially on the university policy level) that are essential for a faulty/research groups to successfully begin a start-up. He is also looking into new higher education policies in China (e.g., Double Top Policy), and recent developments of leading research universities on the context of knowledge economy.
